Becoming America Again
There is a saying, every new beginning comes out of something ending and that rings true with the situation that our country finds itself in with this president and all that has happened on his watch. We must make a new start and get our country back to the good times both politically and morally. The way to do that is to get out and vote this November and demand that our most important right is heard and that is the right to vote, to vote without interference.
The soul of our country is at stake as well as the future that we want to create for our children and as Americans we absolutely must make the right choice this time and get this right, because the alternative, is unacceptable. I honestly believe that we cannot survive four more years of Donald Trump and that if he is re-elected then everything from equality to entitlement programs to the environment will suffer and things will get much worse, yes, they can get worse.
The goal is to become America again.
This is all that should matter when all is said and done. Making our country better should not be a party line issue, but an American issue. The ways in which our nation has lost who we are and what we stand for since this man first took office are many and to recover and find our soul again will take an effort so great that it will take all of us and it will take Americans for once choosing country over party and that is the hope we all have as we move forward.
Becoming a nation that we all can be proud of again will take work and there are a variety of things that must take place for us to get there, but the most thing is for us to get rid of Donald Trump and get a president in there that actually cares about the people of this country and wants what is best for every person in this country and wants us to have a great country that works for all and is a country of kindness and humanity,
We will never have such a country as long as Trump is running the show and if he gets re-elected then we will become a much worse nation than we are now, and we will fall further than any of us thought we could. The way that things are now are very bad and the message that is being sent is that it is no big deal for a sitting president to commit crimes and behave in inappropriate ways and that message is dangerous and it is unjust and it is a message that will send us into a very dark period in this country, darker than we are now.
The message that we need to send is that this is not who we are and never will be who we are. This is not acceptable for our country or any country and we must refuse to allow this president and the cult that follows him to turn our country into a place that we will no longer recognize, we are extremely close to that now and will enter a point of no return if we do not do something soon.
When I say that we must become America again, I say that because over the last almost four years our country has no resembled the country that I grew up in and does not share the values we all have come to know and cherish as citizens of this country. America is a nation that we have always known as a nation of immigrants, a nation that values different points of view, a nation where equality is part of our makeup, and a nation where science and human rights are valuable and are also respected.
All of that is the complete opposite of what Trump stands for and what he has done since becoming president. The fact is that when Donald Trump became president, we un-became America and things started to go downhill and have gone further and further downhill over his term as president, and things are sure to get much worse if he gets a second term, you can count on that as people like him do not suddenly change, they become more out of control.
To become America again we must make racism wrong again, we must make corruption a crime again, we must take care of the needy again instead of making life harder for them, we must become a nation with values and morals again and choose country over party and the only way that we can do that is to move on from this man and move on from what he has done to our country. Just remember, he has done a lot to damage our country, but never has done anything to better it and despite him and his supporters reporting fake news that he has made America great, the facts show that he has not.
The coming months will tell us a lot about which direction our country will go in and who we will become moving forward. Will we become America again or we will go in the opposite direction and continue down the path that Trump has us on and be a nation that never will be the America that we have been and a path that has both dangerous and devastating consequences, and that is not a risk that I am willing to take nor is it a risk that our nation should take. It is a risk that will make the United States of America more like a place like Russia than the country that our founders envisioned all those years ago when they wrote the constitution and set us on this path to become one of the greatest nations on earth and that is what we were before Trump took over.
Once he leaves office there are some things we can do to become America again and these things are steps we must take if we hope to regain all that we have lost since he has been in charge. The hope and change that came to our nation from Barack Obama was special because that is who we are, the way we were under Obama and the way he acted was how we should be always and how this country should operate.
Republicans choose to defend Trump and all of the crimes he commits and lies he tells and it truly does say it all about them and what they are all about, but this is not who America is and it is not who we want to become, who we are and what we strive to become. They defend him at all costs and it is a shame on our country and the Republican Party that we allow this to happen and that we allow him to trample on the constitution and the values of this nation the way that he does.
The nation we strive to be is not a nation built on Trumpism or the policies that he has implemented that harm immigrants, ban Muslims, remove LGBTQ rights and deny women and others their rights, take away help from the poor and on and on with what he has done to this point. That is not who we are and it should never be who we shall become.
The country that we wish to become again is not about making anything “great” or following a pattern of using slogans to make people believe that things are headed in the right direction and that this president is doing anything helpful for the American people, but rather we want to become a nation that is actually great, not just a country that uses hashtags and trendy slogans to pretend that we are great.
To become America again we must first get the un-American president out of power and make corruption wrong again. I have said it before and I will it once again. Donald Trump is the most corrupt and criminal president in American history and has no interest in following the law or living up to his oath of office. The way that he colluded with both Russia and Ukraine says it all about who he is and then there are the other corrupt ways in which he has behaved, the list is long.
The goal is to become America again and when I say that I mean that we must become a country that cares about others again, a country that values human rights, a country that follows what the founders set forth in the constitution when they wrote that document, to become the country that we have loved and known our entire lives and the country we currently live in is not that country, not even close.
