The Pandemic without a President

The pandemic that made the world stop and shut down the United States of America like nothing ever could or has and we do not have a leader to guide us through this dark time in our history.

We have a man-child who says ridiculous things, blames others for his own failings, attacks reporters, and has these daily briefings where he gloats about his so-called accomplishments while adding fuel to the fire with this cuckoo medical advice and conspiracy theories like the one he threw out there a couple days ago that suggested COVID-19 patients inject disinfectants as a way to cure themselves.

Trump has said and done some insane things and some things that would cause someone to question his state of mind, but him saying this latest thing about injecting bleach to cure ourselves from this virus takes it to an entirely new and dangerous level.

Don the Con’s daily press conferences are stopping due to his campaign of misinformation and not focusing on leadership during this crisis and the meltdown of the financial markets. Not airing Don the Con on a daily basis is a wise move by the administration.

One of their few.

Trump has ruined the United States by constantly make STUPID comments about the virus , the man has no idea how to treat PEOPLE in a civilized manner , it would not surprise PEOPLE if he gets impeached again, he is a LUNATIC.

Of course, his supporters do not see it and defend him to the ends of earth like he is the messiah.

Trump supporters say , “I like him because he isn’t politically correct and he speaks his mind”, also Trump supporters, “He never said that, that is fake news.”

You truly cannot make this stuff up.

Here we are in the middle of a public health crisis and a pandemic like we have never seen and we have a guy who is supposed to be leading us and comforting the nation, but instead is making the United States who have the most Coronavirus deaths and infections to look like a bigger embarrassment than we did before, and that is really saying something.

More than ever, we need a REAL leader.

A real leader like we had during our last pandemic. When we had the 2009 H1N1 pandemic during the Obama administration, things were very different and the response was like night and day compared to the response from the current administration in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic that we are all experiencing.

Obama did not sit there and blame others. He did not come up with ridiculous cures for the virus. He did not spend his press briefings blaming others, going after members of the media, attacking those in the media who would ask him legitimate questions, nor did he defend his inaction to the crisis and that is because he was a real leader and he did act with this.

Trump’s tweets on this from the past are like his tweets on other things in relation to Obama and they do not age well.

In 2009, Trump tweeted the following about Obama and H1N1.

“Obama’s handling of this whole pandemic has been terrible! As president, ALL responsibility becomes yours during a crisis like this, whether or not you’re entirely to blame. John McCain, and for that matter myself would never let thousands of Americans die from a pandemic while in office. “

He went on to blame Obama and Biden for “17K Americans to die from the Swine Flu’

First off, I find it ironic that he would tweet that about Obama when during this current crisis, his very own response has cost thousands of lives and his handling of it has been nothing short of a failure. He tries to blame others and deflect responsibility when his actions leading up to this crisis has been weak and his response has been inadequate.

Second, 17K Americans did not die during H1N1, the actual number that died in the United States was 12,469 and in comparison to the 54,000+ that have died on Trump’s watch during this pandemic, the H1N1 deaths were very low and the response by the Obama administration was presidential and it was on the money as it was contained and the issue was resolved.

Plus, the deaths in 2009 took place over the course of a year, while more than 54,000 Americans have died from COVID-19 in just over seven weeks and we are a long way from being out of the woods with this crisis and many more of our fellow citizens will perish before it is over.

We had a president and a competent one during the last pandemic, we do not have either in this one.

You did not see Obama going around encouraging fake stories during the last pandemic or telling people to inject household cleaners or comparing it to the flu and so on. That is because Obama was a professional and an educated person who knew how to handle such a crisis and knew that there was no comparison to other illnesses.

Trump called this thing “a harmless flu” for weeks. That is false because as we have seen with the deaths and sickness that the Coronavirus has caused up until this point, it is far from harmless and the comparison to the flu is the most ignorant statement he has made thus far, and there have certainly been a lot of ignorance coming from him.

The flu has a largely effective vaccine and anti-viral meds that help reduce symptoms while COVID-19 has none of that and has been a nightmare for our medical professionals to try and treat. They still do not know what it is and how to help people who come down with it, so to compare it to the flu is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

Yet, he says things and his sheepish supporters repeat those things as if they were said by Jesus himself.

That is why I say that we do not have a president during this pandemic that we are facing.

Trump shows no leadership and his statements are dangerous and the reason I say that they are dangerous is because they encourage people to make foolish choices about their health and the health of their fellow citizens, like when he tweeted to “Liberate” certain states from lockdown orders or when he told his supporters that this was a “hoax”.

Of course, his supporters do not believe any of it because they do not want to accept reality that their guy is a complete failure and that he is making the crisis that we are in so much worse and that he is showing a lack of leadership at a time when we need it most.

Trump supporters always say, “I love Trump because he speaks his mind and isn’t politically correct” and then go on to say, “He never said that, that is not what he meant, he was joking, that is fake news.”

I find the double standard AMAZING.

Even before this crisis, his words were divisive and his aim was always to make his base happy, with no regard for the safety and well-being of the other Americans that live and work in this country, but now it is even worse as now it is a life and death matter that his divisive rhetoric creates and it is serious that he encourages others to not take this seriously, more so than the fact that he does not take it seriously.

When Trump takes to the podium and gives a speech or gives an interview the first thing he does is divide and blame. That is what he is good at and what he does so well as president. He loves to deflect, and his supporters have learned these tactics from him because anytime they are engaged in a debate with those on the other side, they use the very same tactics that he does.

In his speeches and interviews Trump likes to start out with a single divisive statement that is aimed at a specific group to create a division in our country that gets his supporters riled up and excited. Many times, these divisive statements have zero truth to them whatsoever, but that never stops him from continuing to make them.

Divisiveness is the essence of who Trump is and what he does. He uses the issue of racial and other types of division to create gaps in our country and also, he does it to put people in little groups and subgroups.

It is how tyrants and those who want to be tyrants create their sheep and control the masses and if you happen to look at his supporters you will see it working.

The divisions that currently exist in our nation are deeply rooted in racism and hatred and they likely will take many decades to overcome and it is because of the divisiveness of the current American president that we find ourselves and our country in such a predicament and that the culture and political landscape continues to become shaky at best.

If he would have come out and changed who he is and who he has been for his entire presidency, then perhaps, we could have forgiven his inappropriate, divisive, and hateful actions over these last almost four years and moved on from all of that.

If he would have just acted presidential and acted like the leader that we need during a public health crisis and global pandemic, then we would have said that at least he is trying to do what is best for the American people, then we could at least say that he cared about the best interest of the nation and all Americans.

Instead, what we got was the same Donald Trump that became the president in 2017 after he was sworn in.

Divisive. Unpresidential. Deplorable

During a pandemic it would be nice if we had an actual leader. A leader who put his own feelings and opinions aside and focused on the needs and feelings of the people — ALL of the people. It would be such a breath of fresh air if we had someone running things who knew what he was doing and when he was unsure about something, had the humility to ask for help and accept help from the experts in the field.

What we have today is a pandemic that has shut down our country, that has flattened our economy, that has killed tens of thousands of our fellow countrymen and infected almost one million others across this land and yet, we do not have a competent leader to comfort us, guide us, and lead us on to the other side.

Instead we have a man-child who uses press briefings about the public health crisis that we have to push for his re-election and gloat about his so-called accomplishments while attacking everyone under the sun and throwing out dangerous and absurd “cures” for the virus while encouraging his millions of supporters to defy the guidelines of the CDC.

We do not have a president or a leader at a time when we need one the most, instead we have a dangerous man who is a virus in his own who lies about this virus that is killing so many, doesn’t accept responsibility for his failure to act back in the early months of the crisis, blames others for those failings that HE did, and makes inappropriate and asinine comments from the podium, when he should be bringing us all together.

He FAILED to act. He blamed Obama for H1N1 when Obama had a quick and presidential response to that crisis. He does not admit that because of the failings of his own administration at containing it early on, many people died and because of his continued failure on this virus, many are not getting the supplies they need to treat the sick and prevent further deaths.

Furthermore, he got rid of Obama’s pandemic response team , gutted Obamacare at a time when people need healthcare the most, and he is giving his rich friends billions in relief as Americans get less than $2,000 for all the hardships.

He does not own up to any of it, yet he and his supporters continue to say that he should be praised for banning travel from China at the end of January and because of that, then he should not have to do anything else and should be excused for not doing other things.

Banning travel made NO difference.

By the time he banned travel from China, the virus was in Europe and then it was here. The ban did nothing and furthermore, he did not take ANY other actions until March and because of that we have the most deaths and the most cases in the world.

If we had a competent and intelligent leader, then we would have avoided this pandemic on the level that we have now and our country would be in good shape at this point, yet there is no end in sight because we have a joke who does not take this as the serious public health threat that it is and who is far from the leader we need.

The point is, we do not have a president during the biggest public health crisis in decades and perhaps, ever!
